Existing in Shadowland, ArtSect Gallery, London, UK 11–12 May 2024
Existing in Shadowland showcases artworks from multiple artists, spanning various mediums, aimed at delving deeply into the influence of media on individuals and society. Using Lacan’s theory as a lens, the exhibition examines the phenomenon of mirror identification — how we construct our self-identity through observing others, often based on misinterpretation and illusion. Through diverse artistic expressions, the exhibition explores the complex process of subject formation and identification. Visitors are invited to reflect on how media mirrors, influences, and shapes individual awareness and social relationships. This exhibition seeks to provoke a reconsideration of media’s role in contemporary life and to foster deep contemplation on identity, perception, and the self.
